Don't Melt Under The Sun

My summer make-up routine has been consisting of a week where I try to put make-up on for work and a week were I don't wear any make-up to give the face a break. You don't have to forego wearing make-up during this time of the year for fear you'll end up looking like a melted piece of crayon.

Less is more this time of the year. Here I share my go-to no make-up make-up that works like a charm during the summer time.

If your face is anything like mine, then you might think not wearing any moisturizer before putting on make-up is a smart move. I'll tell you now, do not skip this!!! During the summer my face tends to be more on the oily side than the regular combination type.

PREP

You need to start with a clean face when doing your make-up. Trust me on this. Recently my go to cleanser has been Simple's Cleansing Micellar Water. You'd think you'd need all the bubbles in the world to get a clean face, but this does the job and no need of soap or bubbles. It removes impurities, has vitamins for our skin, and it hidrates!

Now to moisturize. If you have a combination/oily skin, it is wise to use a moisturizer that is either oil free or use a light oil moisturizer. I know this doesn't make sense! But it does. I would recommend Josie Maran's 100% Pure Argan Oil Light (make sure it's the light one!). If you still don't trust the oils that have grown in popularity lately, there this option which is a gel cream.

Less is more, so instead of wearing a heavy face primer I tend to reach out for this  light might.

Make-Up Part

  • Face - Remember less is more. Tinted Moisturizers/BB Creams/CC Creams/ or a really light foundation are the way to go during the summer. If they have SPF in them even better. You need your face to be able to breath!  Here's two options to check out which I find work wonders; here and here. This is pretty much to even out your skin color without heavy foundation.

  • You can set the T-Zone with a little bit of powder. Just a little bit.

  • Brows - Brows give the face form. You want to make sure these look groomed and on point.

  • Eyes - no need for eye shadow for this type of make up. Just make sure you curl your lashes and apply only one coat of mascara. I tend to only do my upper lashes and leave the bottom ones bare. But there's no harm is getting those bottom babies a coat.

  • Cheeks - You want it to look subtle. Not too much color but you don't want to look completely pale. If you want to have a little bit of a glow you can apply a highlighter on the upper part of the apples of your cheeks and down your nose.

  • Lips - keeps these subtle. Use a balm or tint that is similar to the color of your lips or some shades close to it.

Well this wraps it up for this section of make up. If you have any questions comment below :)
